Kia ora koutou!
We would love to have you at our next event, Crafting Resistance – Peace in the Pacific.
Where: Newtown Community & Cultural Centre – 2a Green Street, Newtown
When: 1pm Sat 7 August
At this event we will learn from guests who have fiercely resisted oppression in the Pacific. We will then create radical art together! Join us in a range of projects and the sharing of resources which empower and inspire action, revolution and justice.
Following Hiroshima Day on August 6th, we will affirm and strengthen our continuing commitment to ethical remembering and active opposition of structures which colonise, extract, displace, and destroy for profit. While as a nation we have been firm in our rejection of nuclear arms in our waters, we have been passive for too long as the Pacific became a playground for war machinery and nuclear testing.
In a world where self expression is limited by oppressive hierarchical power structures and commodified by corporations, where arts are undervalued by the world’s ruling institutions, imagining and creating a future beyond what is fed to us is a radical act. Working together to realise our collective visions of a transformative future and dismantle all forms of oppression is revolutionary.
We are looking forward to seeing you there!
