Ngā mihi o te Kirihimete me te Tau Hou!
The Prisoner Correspondence Network (PCN) is holding our fifth annual Holiday Card Drive, sending holiday cards to hundreds of people on the inside. Christmas can be a very dark time in prison, and receiving a holiday card can make a world of a difference.
Tāmaki Makaurau’s holiday card drive will be hosted outside this year at our socially distanced picnic-style event. We will also have masks and contact tracing available to keep our community safe. Come along to Tahaki Reserve – 250 Mount Eden Road anytime from 10am to 3pm on Saturday the 4th of December, to write cards for our whānau in prison. If you have any old cards or stationery you don’t need, please bring them along too!
IMPORTANT NOTE: This event is weather dependent. Check on this page and our social media on the day to confirm whether it will be going ahead!
If you can’t make it to the cardmaking bee but you still want to participate, please post your cards to PO Box 14329 Kilbirnie Wellington 6241. Please choose prisoners’ names, at random, to address your cards to here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EhkQhpzLhxpQ50JWV_wnk-b1_aLzCEb3PZFI35WDftY/edit#gid=0
Also, we are unable to accept cards that have been customised using glue as some prisons do not accept these. So if you are making your cards at home, by all means be creative, but please do not stick anything to them!
Finally, if you know someone inside and you think they would appreciate some seasons greetings, please fill out this form and we will add them to our list of people to receive cards: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScUK3OierSCdXnhMGKTorsfeNXobU02rHBUotR__nDI7D_mmA/viewform. Please note the final day to nominate a loved one is 04/12/21.
Please share with your friends and whānau. We are looking forward to writing holiday cards together very soon!
