Who is Geronimo?
Geronimo is a 6-year-old black alpaca. He was deported from Aotearoa and exiled to England. Since arriving as a baby/cria he has been held in captivity. The humans of the UK Dept of Food, Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) claim Geronimo twice failed tests for Bovine Tuberculosis. The notorious Boris Johnson regime has now called for the execution of Geronimo.
The Case To Save Geronimo
Helen MacDonald, the human who is lucky enough to live with Geronimo, argues that the tests conducted are false positives. She has not been allowed a third opportunity to have her wooly friend tested. The human Dominic Dyer, from the Born Free Foundation, said at a recent protest in support of Geronimo “DEFRA has known for many years that the TB skin test could be leading to false positive TB results in alpacas. However rather than allow Geronimo to be tested for TB using a more accurate Actiphage PCR blood test, DEFRA Secretary George Eustice continues to order his death to avoid greater scrutiny over the many failures in the government’s bovine TB control policy in cattle, alpacas, and badgers.”
What You Can Do
In the UK a petition with over 100,000 signatures in support of Geronimo as well as a protest to Boris Johnson’s lair, has taken place recently. Humans have arrived at the MacDonald farm to protect Geronimo from the government assassins.
The Aotearoa-based Llama Alpaca Militant Alliance (LAMA) adds its voice in support of our condemned comrade. It is clear that the Boris regime’s hatred is motivated in part by jealousy of a creature with a better mop-top, more charisma, charm, and intelligence than himself.
The LAMA is organising a protest outside the British High Commission, 44 Hill Street, Thorndon, Wellington at 1 pm on Saturday 14th August. We encourage all camelid allies to attend and voice their concern for the life of our comrade.
