Rutgers LEARN
April 8th, 2021

On April 6, 2021, Rutgers LEARN, the Center for Innovation in Worker Organization (CIWO) in the School of Management and Labor Relations, Labor Notes, and the Labor Network for Sustainability hosted an online symposium on the classic labor history book, “Strike!” (Visit: https://blog.pmpress.org/authors-arti…) Since its original publication in 1972, no book has done as much to bring U.S. labor history to a wide audience. “Strike!” tells the dramatic stories of repeated, massive, and sometimes violent revolts by ordinary people from the point of view of rank-and-file workers that were involved in nationwide general strikes, the seizure of vast industrial establishments, and nonviolent direct action on a massive scale. Opening Keynote by Sara Nelson, President of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA. Guests include Valarie Long, International Executive Vice President of SEIU, Kim Kelly, Rebecca Givan from the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations, and Jeremy Brecher. Hosted by LEARN’s Todd Vachon and panel moderated by CIWO’s Javier Morillo.
