Call from <span class="flex-item-fluid message-recipient-item-label-address text-ellipsis max-w100 inline-block" title="Lobelia Commons “>Lobelia Commons for submissions for the 2022 edition of the Earthbound Farmer’s Almanac. To hear Lobelia Commons on This Is America, go here.

The past year has reminded us that we need to constantly re-imagine what the world can look like and to not let our imagination be curtailed by colonial institutions and the state. For this, we’re looking for content from a diversity of sources united by a radical relationship with the land.

  • Anticolonial histories & futures
  • How to’s (for a world in flux)
  • Critical agroecology
  • Stories from your neighbors
  • Recipes from the land
  • Climate change noticings
  • Traditions to uplift or destroy
  • Farm notes
  • & more

The publication will be printed and distributed in both urban and rural spaces with a focus on the gulf south.

If you have something you think might fit we’d love to hear from ya! While the production and distribution of the almanac will be entirely volunteer, we intend to hold ad space for like-minded projects. Feel free to reach out if you are part of or know of a group that may appreciate free ad space.

Deadline for submissions and (short) pitches is October 31, 2021! We aim to have it published and out in the world for January 1, 2022, so get in touch if interested in submitting as soon as possible! Email: [email protected] with “2022 almanac” in the subject.

The Earthbound Farmer’s Almanac is a project of Lobelia Commons, a network for food autonomy and neighborhood survival in so-called New Orleans and the surrounding region.

While you’re here, we need your support. To continue running the website, we need support from community members like you. Will you support It’s Going Down, and help build independent media?...so donate?
