A woman loses her baby in a posh neighbourhood and suffers a psychotic break so winds up raising a lifelike doll. A nanny is hired whom would seem to have covertly brought a baby along with her into the house which immediately replaces the doll as if nothing had happened.

The nanny is a young runaway from Wisconsin. The “mother” a TV presenter. The brother is an executive substance abuser. The husband is a revered chef.

Supernatural overtones abound. The thrilling story is revealed at an enjoyably slow pace. An utterly gripping masterpiece.

Written and filmed much like a play with just half a dozen characters set entirely in one New York mansion.
