The International Labour Network of Solidarity and Struggle strongly supports the struggle of the University and Colleges Union (UCU), Trade Union Congress (TUC), employees and students of the University of Liverpool to save the jobs of 47 scientists threatened with redundancy.
The demands for profitability that are sweeping through the University of Liverpool, beyond common sense, represent a dangerous drift that threatens all universities around the world, and the Liverpool struggle represents our future struggles !
We support their strike, but also the UCU’s call for a boycott, demanding that no one applies for jobs, holds conferences there etc. until the university management backs down on the sackings.
We call on all unions, especially in the field of higher education, to publicise this call for a boycott, and more generally this struggle which is at the forefront of our struggles.
Long live international solidarity !
